MEDIA RELEASE

Search and rescue pioneer Jim Segerstrom Passes

Jim Segerstrom, internationally recognized expert in Swiftwater Rescue and founding member of the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team passed at 8:44 Monday, February 5, 2007 after suffering a stroke the previous week. Jim was 60 years old.

Memorial services will be held Saturday February 17 at 1pm at Sierra Bible Church located at 15171 Tuolumne Rd. A procession from Sonora High School to the church will begin at 11:45.

Raised: In Sonora, California. Family has been in area since Gold Rush era.

Consultant and Director, Special Rescue Services Group
Specialized swift water and flood rescue training, helicopter rescue, rope
Rescue and industrial safety training world-wide.
Subject-matter expert witness and investigator. Risk management
Assessment and reports. Providing such services for both defense and
plaintiff's attorneys on all life safety and risk management issues regarding
search and rescue; whitewater rafting; high-risk sports; industrial safety and
rescue; swiftwater rescue; and helicopter safety and rescue. Conduct
site investigations and studies for high-risk commercial, industrial,
and recreational businesses; insurance companies; and state and
Federal agencies, parks, and recreation areas.
Founding Partner, World Rescue Group, Inc. A multi-national alliance of
companies involved in search and rescue and life-safety, training, consulting
and equipment worldwide. Currently teaching courses in North America,
Asia, Australia and Europe. Representatives in the U.S; Canada; Taiwan;
Australia, Japan, and Switzerland.

From 1979 to 2000:
Vice President for Operations, Rescue 3 International, Elk Grove, California.
Founded the company as a sole-proprietorship in 1979. Retain 40%
Ownership.
Directed the day-to-day operations of twenty year old rescue company,
one of only a handful of such successful concerns in the United States. In
charge of instructor development; quality assurance; curriculum and text
writing; and international market development. Company teaches courses
and instructor courses in eleven foreign countries, directs and maintains
certifications for nearly 900 instructors; and supplies materials to those
instructors who in turn teach nearly 9000 students a year. Areas of
instruction are swiftwater and flood rescue; rope rescue; helicopter rescue;
specialized rescue and disaster management; river boat operations; personal
watercraft; and industrial safety and rescue.
